Although it was almost midnight.... A collection of stories.

One of the things I enjoy as an English language teacher is reading interesting and original essays written by my students. I am sometimes moved to tears by their writings, and always excited that young people can dare to express themselves via writing.

I am sure my students' eyes will be glued to this page because I promised to upload some of their works on here.

The short write-ups below are the original, unedited works of my Year 11 students. They begin the same way because I gave them a writing prompt which they used to write a story of not less than 50 words in 10 minutes. Please read and leave encouraging comments.

Although it was almost midnight.... Sola
Although it was almost midnight, I heard the sound of footsteps approaching our house. I opened the door, and there was no one there. I went upstairs to my wife and baby and told her that there was no one there. we went back to sleep. The alarm of the door sounded again, I ran downstairs and the door was wide open. I closed it and rushed upstairs and there was a man standing by the baby's bed. My wife screamed and I rushed in and the man was gone. I searched the whole house and went back to the room. My wife was gone and all that was in the baby's bed was an old doll which was buried outside the house months ago. I went outside to where the doll was buried and there was no sign of a dug hole.

Although it was almost midnight.... IB
Although it was almost midnight, I heard the sound of footsteps approaching our house. I opened the door just to see nothing there. I closed the door and started going back to my room. It's probably just my imagination, I thought. Just as I was approaching the door of my room there was a power outage and just then I could hear the footsteps again followed by knocking.
The fear in me made my skeleton jump out of my skin but still I gathered up courage to open the door. when I opened the door I saw a tall dark mysterious image, without wasting time I began confessing my sins and telling whatever it was that I 'was only fifteen and I didn't want to die. The figure laughed and asked to come in I agreed but I was pretty sure I would regret this. he asked to see my mum and when I called her she smiled at him and sent me upstairs. I went but I was full of curiosity, what ever happened next still remains a mystery to me.

Although it was almost midnight.... to be continued.
